Tip:
DO NOT remove navigation unit from vehicle.
To perform this procedure in its entirety should take approximately 50 minutes.
Procedure will erase presets.
If navigation is left ON for more than 1 hour unattended it will turn OFF to conserve battery power. If this occurs,
turn navigation back on by pressing power key and continue SW program from previous step (There is no risk of
update being interrupted by this power down).
Identifying Software level
o Connect Midtronics InCharge 940 (INC 940) tester/charger
to vehicle's battery.
o Remove key from ignition.
o Press 'power' knob on navigation unit.
o Eject any disc in navigation unit by using eject button.
o For software version up to 47, press 'Accept' button.
o If software version is 48 or greater, continue.

Tip:
The software version will be the last 2 digits on the right hand
side. In the figure, software version is 49.
If Software version is 50 or above, DO NOT continue with
programming.
If software version is 49 or below, continue with update
programming.
o Record customer presets.
o Insert programming CD Part No. NAVFLTAYSW50.
o Press Load button.
Software will now update. You will observe two screens during the update.

When update is complete this screen will appear.
Tip:
Note that new and current software dates match horizontally.
If all dates match horizontally as shown, software programming
was successful.
o Press the Cancel soft key.
o Recheck the software as shown in steps 1 through 10.
o Insert Map CD and reprogram customer presets.
Tip:
If the problem still occurs after the update programming is complete, contact technical assistance by selecting the
" Technical Assistance " tab in ElsaWeb and follow the instructions to obtain a 6 digit access code.

Update the software version '47' according to the attached instructions.
Note:
Presets of the radio and the language setting will be lost (destinations, adjustments ..)
The process takes about 45 minutes. Do not start the engine to avoid low voltages.
Important: Remove the ignition key, switch on the unit with the on-off switch, insert Update CD start software
download.
The CD must not be damaged, scratched or dirty, otherwise there could be updating errors.
DVD - Navigation Instructions: Verifying Current SW Version
1. Connect an approved battery charger.
2. Remove the ignition key to avoid switching OFF the navigation unit by mistake.
3. Switch ON the navigation unit with the knob.
4. Press CD hardkey
5. Press System settings -arrow- (lower right).
6. Press and hold Factory Set. -arrow- (upper right) until a new screen
appears. May take 6 seconds of holding.

7. Press System Info -arrow- (upper left).
8. Press the double down arrow -arrow- (center right) once.
9. Read the information in the second line of the screen which starts with
HW - HU. The last two digits indicate the current software version square-.
10. If SW version is less than '47', proceed with steps 11-23.
DVD - Navigation Instructions: Updating to SW version '47'
11. Make a note of the language adjustment and the assigned radio stations.
12. Take out the Navigation DVD, press the NAV button on the unit and insert the Download CD. It may take a
moment till the Download CD is recognized. If the bar doesn't appear, eject and insert the CD again.
13. After the bar is complete an update menu with the software versions is shown. Here a comparison of new/old
versions is possible. Do not perform the update, if the latest software version has been installed.

14. Press the top left softkey 'Load' -arrow- to start the update. The
download takes place in three parts and lasts about 45 minutes.
15. The Download CD is ejected at the end (do not remove manually with the eject key). Reinsert the disk. The
update menu appears again.
16. In the update menu press the bottom left softkey 'Cancel' -arrow-.
17. The Download CD is again ejected and can now be removed.
18. Insert the Map DVD of the vehicle or another suitable Map DVD.
19. The navigation software is now loaded again and the system shows the normal navigation interface.
20. If necessary, reset the language adjustment and the assigned radio stations.
21. Switch off the navigation system (= & gt; adjustments saved).
22. Read and delete the overall fault memory. The download may lead to fault entries in following control units:
Gateway, dash insert, navigation, sound system, and radio.
23. Read the SW version as described in steps 3-10. Repeat flash if SW did not change.

arrow, on the right side of screen.
o Check four digit number -arrow-:
Last two digits indicate software version.
If the last two digits read 20 or higher:
o Update has been performed. Press 'Back' twice to
discontinue procedure. DO NOT complete section
two of the Technical Bulletin.
If the last two digits read 19 or lower, continue to
update programming.
Update Programming
o Insert update CD NAVFL3546SW49
Tip:
The next step IS NOT the software download.
During this procedure, display may go blank for a few
seconds and the security LED will illuminate. This is
normal.
If CD does not load or No DVD Installed is displayed,
eject programming CD, Install Navigational DVD,
Select Map, wait until a map displays, remove
navigational DVD and Install programming CD to
continue update.
o Press NAV button -arrow-, wait for approximately
four minutes until software Version screen
appears.

After update is finished:
o Press 'Cancel'
Update CD will eject.
o Remove update CD and wait until 'No DVD'
inserted appears on the screen.
Insert map DVD and press 'NAV' button.
Tip:
New software will take approximately four minutes to
load.
o Wait until Navigation main menu appears.
Programming procedure is complete. Map DVD can
be ejected and returned to its original storage place.
o Reset all preset radio stations.
o Press 'Power' knob to switch Navigation unit OFF.
Tip:
Programming procedure may lead to Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) in several control modules.
Erase all DTC memories.
If no presets were saved, switch on Navigation unit, press 'Radio' button.
Press and hold 'Autostore' soft key for at least 10 seconds until an audible 'beep' indicates that initial
'Autostore' is started.
Wait until initial 'Autostore' completes, and radio begins to play a station.

o Select 'load' -arrow- soft key.
Software loading procedure will begin.
Tip:
During this procedure, display screen may go blank for
a few seconds and the security LED will illuminate.
Download takes approximately 45 minutes; NAV unit
may be left alone during this time.
DO NOT insert key into ignition.
If NAV unit is left for more than 1 hour, it will switch
OFF.
o Press 'Power' knob and 'Accept' key to continue
download process.

Tip:
DO NOT remove navigation unit from vehicle.
To perform this procedure in its entirety should take approximately 50 minutes.
Procedure will erase presets.
If navigation is left ON for more than 1 hour unattended it will turn OFF to conserve battery power. If this occurs,
turn navigation back on by pressing power key and continue SW program from previous step (There is no risk of
update being interrupted by this power down).
Identifying Software level
o Connect Midtronics InCharge 940 (INC 940) tester/charger
to vehicle's battery.
o Remove key from ignition.
o Press 'power' knob on navigation unit.
o Eject any disc in navigation unit by using eject button.
o For software version up to 47, press 'Accept' button.
o If software version is 48 or greater, continue.

Tip:
The software version will be the last 2 digits on the right hand
side. In the figure, software version is 49.
If Software version is 50 or above, DO NOT continue with
programming.
If software version is 49 or below, continue with update
programming.
o Record customer presets.
o Insert programming CD Part No. NAVFLTAYSW50.
o Press Load button.
Software will now update. You will observe two screens during the update.
